The dumpster is the last step.

Use only the steps that fit your cleanout.

Pull out what you can sell, donate, or recycle before the dumpster arrives.

Size a one-bedroom, a garage, or a whole house from the pile you have left.

The size follows the pile you actually have.

Which size fits what is left?

Household junk is usually lighter than concrete or shingles.

A light household load is about 125 pounds per cubic yard.

Mixed household junk is 1.15 times that.

Loads with some appliances, books, or tools are 1.35 times that.

The 20-yard is for cleanouts and remodeling.

The 30-yard is for a larger cleanout.

The 40-yard is the maximum volume size, with the same 5-ton capacity as the 30-yard.

It is for estate and warehouse cleanouts as well as large construction.

A 40-yard adds space. Dirt and concrete still use the 10-yard open-top.

Could a rubber-wheeled dumpster work in a driveway?

In an eligible county, a 10, 20, or 30 yard rubber-wheeled dumpster may be the driveway option.

It includes 7 days. A roll-off includes 14.

The address quote confirms the price, the included weight, and that the service is available.

Outside that list, plan on a roll-off. Extra days on either line are $25.

If the container needs to sit in the street, ask the local authority about a permit.

In Detroit, a permit may be required for street placement.

For a home cleanout, use a roll-off or a rubber-wheeled dumpster where that service is available.

Front-load 2, 4, 6, and 8 yard containers are scheduled business containers in Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland Counties.

Rubber-wheeled counties

  • Macomb
  • Wayne
  • Oakland
  • Saginaw
  • Monroe
  • Livingston
  • Washtenaw
  • Grand Traverse
  • Ingham
  • Kent
  • Lapeer

What stays out of the cleanout load?

Leave these out

  • Hazardous waste
  • Tires
  • Batteries
  • Paint and chemicals
  • Asbestos
  • Flammable materials
  • Propane tanks
  • Medical waste
  • Electronics where restricted

Mattresses and box springs can go in when you declare them at booking.

A mattress add-on is $45. A box spring add-on is $45.

A qualifying online 10-yard order for dirt, concrete, brick, or similar heavy debris can include a $350 refundable weight deposit.

Household furniture uses your normal address quote.

Keep heavy material in the 10-yard open-top.

How do you book after the sort?

Enter the delivery address only after you know which container you need.

The quote shows the price, the included weight, and the extra-ton rate.

After pickup, the disposal facility weighs the load.

You can book online 24/7.

Same-day delivery depends on location, inventory, scheduling, and order time.

How do you keep the cleanout from becoming a weight problem?

Separate dirt, concrete, brick, block, and rock.

Soil is about 1.35 tons per cubic yard. Concrete and masonry are about 2 tons per cubic yard.

They belong in a 10-yard open-top.

A qualifying online order for that load can include the $350 refundable deposit.

Take paint, chemicals, propane tanks, tires, and batteries out before the driver arrives.

If the remaining household pile is light, a larger roll-off is a space decision.

Included weight is still whatever your address quote shows.

Keep the load level with the fill line.

Sort first. Same-day delivery, when it is available, still starts after you know the pile.
